Joice Mujuru attends Mahiya court hearing:Pics

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association secretary for Information and Publicity Douglas Mahiya has been granted US$300 bail, to report twice a week at police CID Law and Order, and reside at his Chitungwiza house.

Mahiya is being charged with undermining the authority of or insulting President Robert Mugabe after he allegedly wrote a damning statement on behalf of the war veterans association describing President Mugabe as a “genocidal dictator.”

12:17 – The State has made an application for bail order to be suspended for 48 hours.

12:09 Bail has been granted. Mahiya is to report twice a week at Police CID Law and Order. He must also reside at his Chitungwiza home.

The latest information is that Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) secretary –general, Victor Matemadanda has been arrested on similar charges to Mahiya “undermining the authority of or insulting President Robert Mugabe.”

Matemadanda has been taken to Harare Central police station accompanied by Lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa and head of CID Law and Order section, Chrispen Makedenge.
