Mahofa banishes Killer Zivhu from her office, home

MASVINGO – There was drama at the Zanu Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held in Masvingo on Saturday, when the Minister of State for Masvingo, Shuvai Mahofa who is known to be a close ally of Killer Zivhu exploded during a tense meeting and ordered the latter to stop visiting her either at her office or at home.
Zivhu who hails from Chivi District which is Mahofa’s home area is the provincial secretary for finance for Masvingo.
The clash came after Zivhu allegedly questioned who of the two, Mahofa or Jeppy Jaboon the  provincial political commissar had more power in the province. Zivhu accused Jaboon of acting like a loose cannon and Mahofa who is also a Politburo was doing nothing about it.
The incident happened during a closed door meeting.
Zivhu said Jaboon did as he wished in the province. He accused Jaboon of holding unsanctioned meetings and roping in suspended members and giving them assignments.
“We are tired of being swayed from one faction to the other, can you stand up to Jaboon and show us your powers, we want to know whether you still have the support of President Mugabe or not because we don’t want to follow people who do not have the President’s blessings, we are tired of this,” thundered Zivhu to loud applause.
Mahofa who was taken by surprise at the apparent faltering confidence in her responded angrily almost declaring an end to the two’s friendship.
“If you question the source of my power then you are misinformed and it is better that you don’t ever set your foot at my house or office again,” declared Mahofa.
Sources said Zivhu sensed and realised that he had touched a raw nerve and almost apologetically toned down his statement.
“If you want to know whether a person is alive or not try to punch a blow and if the person reacts you are then assured that the person is not dead, this is the same thing that I was trying to find out and I am happy you have showed us you have the teeth and hope that all we are going to do here has the blessings of the Politiburo,” said Zivhu.
Meanwhile, the meeting resolved to replace provincial youth chairman Nobert Ndarombe with Shingirai Mangwana from Chivi district deputised by Yeukai Matsaure of Chiredzi.
John Chitoro from Zaka was elected youth league secretary for administration and Efias Makombo from Masvingo district was elected treasurer.
Veronica Makonese the provincial women’s league chair was reassigned to the post deputy secretary for the disabled and replaced by Rosemary Maswa while Jaboon was also replaced by Silas Ndhlovu of Chiredzi district as the secretary for the commissariat.
Provincial War Veterans chairman, Isaac Tendeukai Chinooneka said the changes in the provincial leadership were not influenced by factionalism but meant to unite and strengthen the party.
“During the war if we discover that you could not use a Bazooka we would give you a less sophisticated weapon like an AK47 so what has happened today is for the good of the party, it is not personal as nobody has been suspended or fired,” said Chinooneka.
Baloyi added that Jaboon was becoming reckless with the powerful position of PC which he held as he went about addressing members who were on suspension and giving them roles to play which is against the constitution of the party.
The meeting also resolve to seek Police help to recover cars from Ndaarombe and Makonese which they have been using.
The meeting was attended by among other Senator Clemence Makwarimba, Paul Mangwana, Deputy Minister of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, Mathias Tongofa, Lovemore Matuke, Francis Zimuto and several Central Committee members.
