Details Uncovered: Margret Dongo ‘s son’s death

The son of Margret Dongo, People First Women’s League Chair, Elton, sustained serious injuries  on Saturday when a mysterious accident occurred on their Mhondoro farm property.

Elton was a 32 year old former student in the UK studying  IT, a father of two and a husband. The young father perished in a dreadful accident involving a scotch-cart. He was terminally injured and passed away on Monday morning.

Margret Dongo, his mother and decorated war veteran has said she is still to come to terms with the accident’s details.

“What shocks me is how can a person who does not like scotch-carts all of a sudden jump into one?,” Margret questions.

She continued adding that the cart was being pulled by a very restless cow when his friends noticed it was increasingly becoming flustered and chose to jump out.

“But he remained in there possibly hoping the situation would improve.  It was at that point that he was thrown out of the cart as it collapsed and injured him at the spine.”

The injured Elton was quickly taken to Parirenyatwa hospital whilst his mother called from 450km away in Bulawayo. Parirenyatwa hospital then delayed attending to Elton for over  hours according to Mrs Donga.

“I was in Bulawayo when I received the telephone call and drove to Harare. By the time i got to Parirenyatwa, he was still in the casualty department,” she said adding that he was still alive and talking at the time.

Margret demonstrating her victimization by President Robert Mugabe’s political network said that is not the first time a sinister event has occurred towards her sons.

“I have three sons, all of them graduates, and the older one was recently looking for a job and as soon as they read out his name Dongo, they ask him if his mother is me”Margret.” It was at that point that he was told he is not suitable for the job.”

Elton’s mourners are gathered at the Dongo family home in Ridgeview Harare.
