The Minister of Health and Child Care Dr David Parirenyatwa has appealed to nurses and doctors to hold for a bit longer and wait for the government to engage with the appropriate ministry and come up with a way forward regarding the payment of their December salaries.
As indicated earlier by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development , education sector employees got their December salaries this Tuesday the 29th of December and as per the announcement, there was nothing for workers in the health sector who will be paid on the 5th of next month.

Dr Parirenyatwa appealed to nurses and doctors to put the patient first and have some patience as there are some engagements that are taking place to iron out the issue.

On Monday representatives of the Zimbabwe Nurses Association and the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association told the ZBC News that employees in the health sector would only be able to go to work beyond the 29th of December if the government puts in place some transport arrangements for them to and from work as their salaries cannot stretch up to the 5th of January 2016.

Nurses and doctors are an essential service and threatening to go on strike at this time of the year when there is added workload caused by increased traffic on the roads which result in accidents and other associated health problems is a blow to the country.
