The trial of Mashonaland Central Minister of State, Advocate Martin Dinha has been postponed to Friday this week to allow the state to furnish the defence with papers. Dinha is facing charges of corruption involving US$60 000.

The trial was slated to commence this Monday morning before Justice Happious Zhou, and its postponement follows concerns raised by the defence of not having been furnished with state papers on time to allow them to prepare their case. Emerging from Justice Zhou’s chambers, Advocate Dinha’s lawyer, Tapson Dzvetero claimed the state had attempted to ambush them. Advocate Dinha is alleged to have demanded US$60 000 from tobacco farmer, Guy Frank Dollar to protect him from losing his farm using his influence as the Mashonaland Central Provincial Lands Committee Chairperson. The second charge of money laundering allegedly occurred from the 28th March 2013 to the 15th of July 2015 where Advocate Dinha allegedly concealed or disposed US$40 000 which he got from criminally abusing his office.
