The plane left Harare at 16:37 hours on Monday and landed in Singapore the next morning at 02:38 hours.

The Zimbabwean leader frequently visits Singapore for his medical treatment and check-ups.

First to lift the lid was higher and tertiary education minister, Jonathan Moyo, who tweeted on social media site Twitter that: “He is and was not in India, as much as you want him to be there”.

On Wednesday, Mugabe’s Press secretary George Charamba in a statement said the nonagenarian had cancelled his sojourn to India, citing security concerns.

“His Excellency the President RG Mugabe, has called off his engagement in India, where he was scheduled to be guest of honour at the World Culture Festival.”

He was supposed to be out of the country for 10 days.
