Nelson Chamisa Not Invited for ED Inauguration

MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa denied Sunday the main opposition had been invited to attend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration.

Government spokespersons said during the event all of Mnangagwa’s losing challengers in the just ended presidential elections had been invited to the event with signs the main opposition elected to snub the event.

However, Chamisa’s spokesperson Nkululeko Sibanda denied Sunday his boss ever received any invitation from his rival.

“We received nothing. I don’t know what they are talking about,” Sibanda said.

“People must know by now that ED lies a lot. He lied about people being killed by the MDC on August the 1st when everyone is aware that MDC has no guns.”

Chamisa has strongly rejected Mnangagwa’s electoral victory July 30 citing systematic poll fraud by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission on the incumbent’s behalf.

In his comments, Sibanda said Mnangagwa’s new mandate was taking off on a wrong note as he still had legitimacy issues following him.

“The one thing that ED has to talk about is his illegitimacy; he is starting with the wrong subject,” he said.

“He must address this issue and that of a stolen election before he goes to the economy because the economy follows legitimacy.

“How is he going to deal with the issue of clear rejection by people as was seen in Harare today?”

Sibanda added, “Imagine if it was the inauguration of Chamisa today. There would be no (stadium) space for anyone to move around.

“If he (Mnangagwa) wants, we can have a mock inauguration just to show him that Zimbabwe has got people.

“No one wants to celebrate an illegitimate president and that’s why he has to pay for people to attend to his inauguration.”-Newzim
