With his most puissant role being that of the “pretty boy” police detective — Eddie Thawne in DC Comics The Flash, Cosnett has circumvented the globe to play Eddie Thawne on the CW’s popular comic book-turned series, The Flash.

Cosnett was born on 6 April 1983 and grew up living on a farm in Zimbabwe but later moved to Australia to pursue studies in his area of expertise — acting.

“. . . people are always shocked when I say I am from Zimbabwe because I am white obviously,” he said in an interview.

“. . . It was a beautiful place to grow up in on the farm with acres of land and places to explore. It was a delightful childhood. It made me very rich as a person. It’s given me a good base,” he said, before talking about afternoon TV shows that he used to look forward to watching.

Once in Australia he landed a role on the Vampire Diaries and cemented himself as resident handsome man on the CW.

He came into the Complex L A studio and we got to learn a little more about his upbringing, his character on the show and the new film he’s crowdfunding about American slaves just before the Civil War.

He was recently in Zimbabwe, where he was conducting workshops. Posting a picture of the actor was none other than Bulawayo’s popular radio personality, motivational speaker and disability activist Soneni Gwizi.

She posted a picture of Cosnett on her Facebook page, captioned:

“#Talent #Acting I got mail!!! “Hi Soneni” from Actor Rick Cosnett who grew up in Chegutu

Zimbabwe & moved to Australia. He was in Harare conducting workshops but I couldn’t make it but! I got a surprise message from Rick . . . For those who might not know Rick Cosnett he acted in the following movies #TheBet (2006), #TheFlashSeason2 (2015) #TheVampireDiaries and many more! Happy Wednesday.”

In one of his famous quotes Cosnett, says that in order to strive people need to push the boundaries in their craft.

“I really feel like we need to push the boundaries of the craft of acting and filmmakin. James Dean and Marlon Brando were a part of generation that did that. Now, I think it’s time for us to do it and I really want to be a part of that movement.”
