President Emmerson Mnangagwa ‘s decision to appoint a serving Major-General Grey Mashava as the Senior Principal Director in the Office of Vice President Retired General Constantino Chiwenga and Ministry of Defence and War Veterans Affairs has set tongues wagging raising suspicion ahead of a crucial July poll.
Mashava, in 2008 was among military personnel deployed to lead and run ZANU-PF election campaigns where opposition members were brutally killed. He was based in Chiredzi West
The move by Mnangagwa is seen as rewarding the military that ushered him to power following a coup de at in November 2017.

Mnangagwa appointed Chiwenga, who led the military takeover that helped end ex-president Robert Mugabe’s 37-year rule, as one of the country two vice presidents in December.
On March 20, Mnangagwa promoted 21 Army officers, 20 were promoted on February 27 and 6 were promoted on 18 January 2018 taking his tally to 47 senior officers in less than 6 months in Office.
