A young lion has been rescued after becoming entangled in a snare in Zimbabwe.

The predator was tracked down after locals reported hearing a growling coming from a nearby river gully on Tuesday.
Officials spent over an hour trying to get into view of the lion as bushes surrounding it were so thick.Vets found the creature clamped down beside a tree near Nyamunga.

Eventually, they were able to tranquilise it and disconnect the snare from the tree.
