Zimbabwe Republic Police to change its name

The new name is to be called the Zimbabwe Police Service and the office of the Attorney General is in the process of drafting a bill for it to take effect.

The change will be made to the Police Act to reflect this.

Zimbabwe’s police have had a bad reputation over years and since Emmerson Mnangagwa took charge of the country, has committed to make deep reforms in the institution. Chief among things it was accused of, was corruption, with police accused of taking bribes.

On its Twitter account, its profile reads, ZRP rebranding to restore public confidence for peace and economic development in the Second Republic.

Some of the reforms have involved retraining officers to reflect a new outlook and service from the institution.
