Zimbabwe says to give priority to key imports as U.S. dollar shortages bite

Zimbabwe’s central bank will announce measures to ease an acute shortage of cash, including a list of imports such as fuel and machinery which will receive priority, the finance minister said on Wednesday.

Speaking in parliament, Patrick Chinamasa said Zimbabwe, which ditched its own currency in 2008 in favour of other units including the U.S. dollar due to hyperinflation, would take steps to increase circulation of the South African rand and the euro.
