Zimbabwean Exemption Permit online applications opened in South Africa

Holders of the Zimbabwean Special Permit can now start applying online for the new Zimbabwean Exemption Permit.

The online application process opened on Friday and will close at the end of November. The Exemption Permit, valid for a maximum of four years, will allow special permit holders to work, study and conduct business in South Africa.

Home Affairs Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize recently announced the new permit.

Applicants are required to complete the application process individually. This will include a personal appointment at the VFS Global offices across the country.

VFS Global Chief Operations Officer for Africa, Jiten Vyas, says their visa centres and staff are ready to handle the volume of applications and call centre queries.

The Zimbabwean Exemption Permit does not entitle the holder to apply for permanent residence regardless of the duration of stay in the country. It is not renewable. There’s an admin fee of R1 090 per applicant.
