Dynamos have appointed Portuguese coach Paulo Jorge Silva as their new coach on a three year deal.
Silva who replaces Tonderayi Ndiraya, arrived in Zimbabwe last Friday for negotiations before he finally committed pen to paper.
He was on Monday introduced to the players as Dynamos began pre-season but was not part of the proceedings as he awaits his work permit.
The Harare giants are set to begin processing the 43-year-old’s work permit. Silva is expected to return to his native Portugal this week before returning to start work once his work permit is out.
Dynamos chairman Kenny Mubaiwa confirmed the appointing of Silva and said they were hopeful he will be able to turn around the fortunes of the club.
“We believe in his experience from working in Europe as well as in Africa. That is why we appointed him to lift us up after we did not have the best of seasons last year,” Mubaiwa said.
“The three-year contract we gave him is performance-based and he knows well that he has to deliver although we do not want to put him under any pressure. We will just leave him to do his job in the most conducive environment we will offer him. He shares the same vision with us and we believe that will help us.”
Silva would be assisted by former head coach Lloyd Mutasa as goalkeeper’s coach Gift Muzadzi has been retained together with team manager Richard Chihoro.
Mutasa will be in charge with the team as Silva awaits the issuance of his work permit.
The Portuguese’ immediate task will be replacing star players Blessing Moyo and Ronald Chitiyo who departed for Harare City as well as retaining Godknows Murwira who is being tracked by FC Platinum.-supersport.com
