Chiwenga Fires All Nurses In Zimbabwe Over Impasse On Salaries

General Constantino Chiwenga- the Zimbabwe government Vice President has announced that all nurses in Zimbabwe have been fired. In a shocking move by the military General deputising President Mnangagwa, Chiwenga decided to fire all the nurses who had engaged in industrial action following an impasse over salaries.

In a statement read on national TV, Chiwenga claims the nurses refused to return to work even after $17 million had been availed to the nurses through the Ministry of Health.

The military government in Zimbabwe seems to be running out of patience with the nurses who have followed in the footsteps of Junior Doctors who had a prolonged strike action last month.

In the statement Chiwenga has indicated that governemnt will hire retired nurses to replace thos that have been fired.

This action is typical of the dictatorship that has existed in Zimbabwe since the time of Mugabe. The constitution of Zimbabwe protects workers from arbitrary removal without due process.
