England based Darikwa praises Warriors and ZIFA

Tendayi Darikwa

BURNLEY defender Tendayi Darikwa has congratulated ZIFA and the Warriors after they comprehensively defeated Swaziland 4-0 on Easter Monday.

The comments have been seen as a sign he could be considering coming for the Warriors next match against Malawi at the National Sports Stadium on June 4.

Knowledge Musona converted a penalty that gave the Warriors the lead before Costa Nhamoinesu planted a firm header from the blind side off a brilliant free kick by Khama Billiat.

Evans Rusike then added the third with Billiat scoring the insurance goal five minutes from time.

The victory lifted Zimbabwe top of Group L with eight points and their performance has won the praise of Darikwa who has been monitoring proceedings from his base in England.

“Well done @online_zifa on today’s result,” Darikwa wrote on twitter. The post was accompanied by a Zimbabwe flag.

The 24-year-old had been named in the squad for the first match ahead of the trip to Swaziland alongside Everton Defender Brendan Galloway and Colchester United defender Macaulley Bonne, but they failed to turn up.

Galloway was called up to represent the England Under-21 side while Darikwa and Bonne were said to be attending to personal issues.

But it is Darikwa’s latest praise of ZIFA and the Warriors that has generated hope he could feature for the Warriors in the next match against Malawi.-NewZimbabwe
