Khama Billiat on the change in his game

Khama Billiat is the overwhelming favourite for the PSL Player of the Season award, and he tells KICK OFF the secret to his change in fortunes this season.

The Zimbabwean forward had a stellar season as Mamelodi Sundowns cantered to the League title, scoring 12 goals and providing 20 assists in all competitions.

Billiat has always had the talent, but it’s the consistency he has brought to his game which has made the difference.

So what’s the secret?

“My teammates have been largely influential in my performances this season, but the one thing I do now which I’ve never done previously is run a lot,” he says in the latest edition of KICK OFF magazine (issue 470).

“Before we go to camp – two days before a match – I always go for a run. Sometimes I run for up to an hour, and that makes me feel good. I do a bit of gym as well, but I love running.

“It gives me a boost and I don’t get tired of running. I can tell you by looking at my performances when I didn’t run before a game. In those games I didn’t do as well.”

The PSL awards take place tomorrow night, with Billiat up against Sundowns teammates Hlompho Kekana and Keagan Dolly for the top prize.-Kickoff
