Mutasa starts Dynamos redemption bid

Lloyd Mutasa

Dynamos will on Sunday start life without fired coach Paulo Jorge Silva when they host FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium.

The Harare giants will be seeking to breathe life into their waning campaign which has seen them record just one win, a draw and three defeats saw.

This poor run led to the sacking of Silva this week after being appointed at the beginning of the year but five months down the line the axe fell on him.

Interim coach Lloyd Mutasa now leads the assignment to revive Dynamos’ fortunes for the next five games which after his performance would be reviewed in view of permanently handing him the job or finding another substantive coach.

Mutasa feels they can hit the right chord by beating FC Platinum.

“It is not a secret that we are playing a team that is on top of its game. This is a really hard match for us considering the two teams’ recent form,” Mutasa said.

“But this is football and you always have to expect any result. We can win, draw or lose but bearing in mind that we really want to start getting positive results, we want nothing but three points. In as much as it will be easy to win this one, it is possible for us to win. I believe that if we do so, it would be the start of good things for us going forward.”

After the FC Platinum game, Dynamos visit Tsholotsho before hosting Highlanders in what could prove to be a stern test for Mutasa.

They then travel to Chapungu and end Mutasa’s five-game trial by welcoming Ngezi Platinum.

This is not the first time for Mutasa to lead Dynamos’ bid to reclaim the league crown.

In 2011, he was tasked with the mission to end Dynamos’ four-year wait for the league title but he failed before being fired midway through the season.
