Zimbabwe senior soccer team players beg Chivayo for sponsorship

In the wake of reports that the Zimbabwe Football Association could lose their sponsor, national team skipper Willard Katsande is reported to have sent messages to businessman, Wicknell Chivayo, begging him to stay.

According to The Chronicle, the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder together with KV Oostende striker Knowledge Musona have contacted Chivayo expressing their concerns about his decision to stop supporting the Warriors.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Chivayo failed to pay coach Calisto Pasuwa his two month salary amount, a move which prompted Chivayo to cease his ties with the financially struggling side.

However, latest information is that Katsande has also threatened to step down as captain if the entrepreneur is not reversing his decision.

“I am having sleepless nights: Willard Katsande is texting everyday saying if you withdraw. I will resign as captain,” reads a comment from Chivayo’s Facebook post.

“Musona is also calling and saying ‘boss, journalists are very unprofessional, please forgive us, we need you.”

On the other hand, the Absa Premiership-based midfielder was furious when called by the Zimbabwean publication saying they must contact the businessman.

“Please boss, I don’t want to comment on this saga, even what I’m saying now, I don’t want to see in the newspapers,” Katsande is quoted.

“I’m concentrating on Kaizer Chiefs to get back to our winning ways – that’s what I’m trying to focus on, please boss.

“You’ve already wrote on this thing, now you’re calling me, for what?.”
